# Automatically update Slack status when on leave

When this feature is enabled, Pause automatically adds a 🌴 emoji to your Slack "away" status during a leave period. When a leave period ends, the emoji disappears.

## To enable the Slack "away" status emoji:

**Step 1:** Go to your **Profile** in the top right corner of Pause.

**Step 2**: Click the **Preferences** tab on the left.

**Step 3:** Go to the **Slack** tab.

**Step 4:** Click **Allow Pause to Edit Status** to give desired permissions to Pause.

**Step 5:** Follow the required permissions step.

You're all set! Your Slack status will now feature a 🌴 emoji when you're on leave.
